PLACES TO SEE

Plymouth - Historic navel city where Drake played bowls whilst waiting to face the Spanish Armada. Where the Pilgrim fathers set sail for America. The Barbican area with its harbour side life is a must for craft shops, galleries, cafes, restaurants and bars. Plymouth Hoe itself is well worth seeing.

Homes and Gardens - There are many beautiful stately homes and gardens within easy traveling distance of the Eliot Arms. To name bt a few there is Lanhydrock, Cotehele, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Mt.Edgecumbe and the nearby Eliot and Antony Estates. Check times of opening to make sure you can get in.

Historic Fishing Villages - Historic villages of Looe, Polperro, Kingsand and Cawsand. All with exciting histories, narrow twisting streets are worth seeing. All have shops and beaches (Polperrow has the smallest beach). Looe is the most commercialised - boat trips available.

The Eden Project - arguably the 8th Wonder of the World. The Humid Tropics Biome at 200mts long, 100mts wide and 47 mts high is the World's largest greenhouse. packed with giants of the plant world balsa, teak and mahogany whilst in the Warm Temperature Biome are plants, fruits and flowers of the Mediterranean, South Africa and California.
